Mets' Dominic Smith (quad) ready for rehab games
New York Mets first baseman Dominic Smith (quad) has begun a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas.
Smith missed the majority of spring training while battling a left quad strain, so the Mets are going to ease the 22-year-old first baseman along before activating him. Adrian Gonzalez will continue serving as the Mets' primary first baseman in the meantime.
Once active, numberFire's models project Smith to hit .207 with 11 home runs, 30 RBI, and 23 runs scored this season.
