Cubs' Kyle Schwarber goes 2-for-3 with mammoth homer
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber singled and smacked a towering solo home run in Tuesday's series-clinching win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Schwarber singled in the Cubs' four-run second inning and added an insurance run with a massive solo dinger off the top of the rightfield scoreboard in the eighth. Counting the Wild Card Game, Schwarber has three long balls in five playoff contests.
Schwarber ended his rookie year with a sparkling .364 wOBA and 16 homers, which was spearheaded by a monstrous .407 first-half wOBA. Schwarber, for the most part, is platooned by Cubs' manager Joe Maddon, who sits the slugger against lefties. Even so, as a catcher-eligible fantasy player, Schwarber will be off draft boards early in 2016.
