Giants' Madison Bumgarner fractures his hand, out indefinitely

San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner suffered a fractured hand on Friday after being hit by a line drive during a Spring Training game, per Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

What It Means:

Brutal blow for the Giants as they placed fellow starter Jeff Samardzija on the DL with a pec strain. This marks the second straight year Bumgarner will miss Opening Day with an injury. There is no timetable for his recovery and return at the moment.

Our models had projected the Giants' ace for a 3.56 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 192 strikeouts in 204-plus innings pitched this season before the injury.
