Dodgers' Corey Seager batting third in NLDS Game 1
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Corey Seager is starting at shortstop and batting third for the Dodgers in Friday's Game 1 of the NLDS versus the New York Mets.
Just two of Seager's 21 starts in the majors have come in the third spot in the lineup, but clearly manager Don Mattingly has plenty of faith in the 21-year-old's bat. And why shouldn't he, given Seager's .337/.425/.561 batting line to start his career. Also worth noting is that, as expected, Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier are at the corner outfield spots, and Yasiel Puig is on the bench.
Mattingly gave Jimmy Rollins several starts at short at the end of the regular season, but this is clearly the right move. Rollins posted a hard-to-stomach .283 wOBA this season.
