Rangers' Adrian Beltre exits in third with back injury
Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was lifted after the third inning during Thursday's Game 1 ALDS showdown with the Toronto Blue Jays due to lower back stiffness.
Beltre looked like he was in serious pain out of the box when he hit an RBI single with two outs in the third inning. Trainers subsequently huddled around him. While he stayed in the game to run after the single, he was lifted before the bottom of the frame.
Hanser Alberto subsequently replaced him at third base. The veteran should be considered day-to-day moving forward. Given that Game 2 in this series is slated for 12:45 on Friday, his status for that game is certainly in jeopardy.
