Angels tab Billy Eppler as their new general manager

The Los Angeles Angels have hired Billy Eppler as their new general manager.

What It Means:

Jerry DiPoto resigned from the post in early July, giving way to Bill Stoneman on an interim basis. Eppler comes from the New York Yankees, where he was an assistant to general manager Brian Cashman.

Eppler acquires one of the game's top talents in outfielder Mike Trout, but that does not mean there aren't areas for improvement within the team. They finished 2015 ranked 14th in our power rankings with a 0.01 nERD. The pitching staff was 25th in xFIP, and the offense was 15th in wRC+. With the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers trending up and the Seattle Mariners awakening in the second half, 2016 will be no easy task for the Angels.
