Miguel Cabrera out for Tigers Sunday, undergoing MRI for back
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera is not starting on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins.
Cabrera made an early exit from Saturday's contest due to lower back discomfort that has been an ongoing issue for multiple months. He will undergo an MRI, but the Tigers may elect to shutdown the 34-year-old slugger for the final week of the season. Efren Navarro is starting on first base and batting cleanup in Sunday's series finale against right-hander Jose Berrios and the Twins.
In 130 games this season, Cabrera owns a .249/.329/.399 slash and .728 OPS with 16 home runs, 60 RBI, and 50 runs scored across 529 plate appearances.
