Giants' Brandon Belt (concussion) likely done for year

San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (concussion) is unlikely to return this season.

What It Means:

Belt has been out since August 5, and while he's making progress, the 29-year-old still hasn't been cleared for baseball activities and there may not be enough time left in the season for him to return. This is Belt's fourth documented concussion in the last eight years and third over the last four. "In the long run, I want to make sure I’m one-hundred-thousand percent ready to go when the season starts next year," Belt explained. "That’s the long term outlook, and if I can get back this season it’s a bonus."

Over 104 games this season, Belt posted a .241/.355/.469 slash with 18 home runs, 51 RBI, and 63 runs scored across 451 plate appearances.
