Royals' Salvador Perez (intercostal) could be back next week
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (intercostal) will resume taking batting practice this weekend and could be activated for next week's series versus the Rockies.
That would mean his return could come as early as Tuesday. Perez has been out for the last two weeks with an intercostal strain. With his return, the Royals will likely lessen the playing time of Drew Butera, and they will likely send Cam Gallagher back down to Triple-A until rosters expand in September.
Our models project Perez for a .266 batting average, with 4 home runs, 16 RBI, and 13 runs scored over 117 plate appearances remaining this season.
