Devin Mesoraco suffers fractured foot in Reds' loss
Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco suffered a small fracture in his fifth metatarsal on his left foot as a result of being hit by a pitch on Monday, an X-ray revealed.
Mesoraco will return to Cincinnati for further testing, but it looks like he's headed for a stint on the disabled list either way. The 29-year-old backstop was initially able to stay in the game after taking a Jose Quintana pitch to the foot, but he was eventually replaced by a pinch-runner. Tucker Barnhart will likely see the majority of starts at catcher while Mesoraco is out.
In 56 games this season, Mesoraco is slashing only .213/.321/.390 with 6 home runs and 14 RBI in 165 plate appearances.
