San Diego trades Trevor Cahill to Kansas City
Kansas City Royals acquired pitchers Trevor Cahill, Brandon Maurer, and Ryan Buchter from the San Diego Padres in exchange for pitchers Matt Strahm and Travis Wood and infielder Esteury Ruiz.
What It Means:
The 29-year-old Cahill has enjoyed a bounce back season in San Diego and now will get to pitch some meaningful innings down the stretch in Kansas City. The starting pitcher will likely slot in as the Royals' fifth starter for the rest of the season.
Cahill has a 3.35 xFIP, 1.34 WHIP, and 72 strikeouts in 61 innings pitched over 11 starts this season.
