Nationals' Stephen Strasburg struggles to get loose Sunday, leaves early

Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg was removed from Sunday's start against the Arizona Diamondbacks after two innings due to trouble getting loose, manager Dusty Baker said.

What It Means:

Strasburg allowed 1 hit and walked 3 while striking out 2 in two scoreless frames before he was lifted after a laborious 51-pitch effort. The 29-year-old ace right-hander isn't expected to land on the disabled list, as the decision to pull him was largely a conservative measure. He's 10-3 (20 starts) this season while recording a 3.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 28.1 strikeout percentage over 121 2/3 innings.

numberFire's models project Strasburg to turn in a 3.34 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 25.2 strikeout percentage in 81 innings over the remainder of the year.
