Eduardo Nunez held out of Giants' lineup due to tight hamstring
San Francisco Giants third baseman Eduardo Nunez is out of the Giants' starting lineup on Wednesday due to hamstring tightness.
The Giants don't want to hurt Nunez's trade value ahead of the July 31 deadline, so they opted to err on the side of caution. According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Boston Red Sox have expressed interest in the 30-year-old third baseman.
Nunez is slashing .295/.319/.407 with 17 steals in 69 games this season. numberFire's models project him to record a .284 batting average with another 9 steals in 219 more plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
