Andrew Cashner hit by bat in Rangers' loss, X-rays negative
Texas Rangers pitcher Andrew Cashner was struck by a broken bat on his throwing arm during Thursday afternoon's start in Cleveland against the Indians, but X-rays came back negative.
It was a scary moment, but it looks like Cashner should be fine for his next turn in the rotation. He allowed five earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks across five innings while picking up his seventh loss of the season. The 30-year-old right-hander is now 3-7 with a 3.87 ERA on the year.
Entering today's contest, numberFire's models projected Cashner to record a 4.45 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 14.9 strikeout percentage in 81 innings over the rest of the season while going 4-6.
