Matt Holliday

Yankees place Matt Holliday (illness) on DL

New York Yankees first baseman/outfielder Matt Holliday has been placed on the team's 10-day disabled list with what the team believes is a viral infection.

What It Means:

The move is retroactive to June 25th, when Holliday first started experiencing complications from what the team thought to be an allergic reaction. There is still some uncertainty around the situation as Holliday heads back to New York for further testing. Meanwhile, the Yankees have called up Miguel Andujar to take Holliday's spot on the roster until he's ready to return.

Holliday was enjoying a bounce-back season in his first year with the Yankees. He had tallied 15 home runs, 47 RBI and a .380 wOBA in 68 games.
