Junior Guerra (calf) resumes mound work for Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Junior Guerra (calf) has resumed throwing bullpen sessions.

What It Means:

He's slated to throw a couple live batting practice sessions beginning early next week and then be cleared to begin a rehab assignment if all goes well. Guerra is working his way back from a strained right calf that he suffered in his first start of the season. He hopes to rejoin the Brewers' rotation before the end of May.

numberFire's algorithms project Guerra for an 11-9 record the rest of the way in 2017. We peg him for a 20.0 percent strikeout rate, 9.24 percent walk rate and 3.78 ERA in 166 2/3 more innings pitched.
