Rockies sending Jeff Hoffman to Triple-A Albuquerque
Colorado Rockies right-handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Hoffman was unable to secure the final spot in the Rockies' rotation after not showing enough during the spring. Look for him to be called up during the summer, at which point the 24-year-old right-hander should be able to carve out some deep-league fantasy value. Baseball America recently ranked Hoffman as a top-40 prospect. Kyle Freeland and Antonio Senzatela are now left battling it out for the remaining starting gig in Colorado.
Across 31 1/3 major league innings last season, Hoffman spun a 4.88 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 15.0 strikeout percentage during his rookie campaign.
