Andrew McCutchen taking a seat as Pirates take on Houston
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen is out of the lineup on Wednesday afternoon against the Houston Astros.
McCutchen owns a .267 batting average in August (74 plate appearances) and this is likely no more than a day of maintenance for the 29-year-old. From left to right, it will be Gregory Polanco, Starling Marte and Matt Joyce in the outfield for Pittsburgh. The Astros are sending right-hander Collin McHugh to the mound.
McCutchen has struggled at the dish in his 505 plate appearances this season, recording career-lows with a .244/.325/.409 slash and .316 wOBA. His .164 ISO is also well below his .195 career-average.
