Cardinals move Ivan Herrera to bench Monday
The St. Louis Cardinals will move Ivan Herrera to the bench for Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics.
What It Means:
Herrera will take a seat Monday with Willson Contreras returning to catcher. Jordan Walker will take up the vacated spot in the Cardinals' lineup, batting eighth as the team's right fielder.
Herrera has looked good at the plate when given the chance this season, with 3 home runs, 6 runs, and 7 RBI to go with a .294 average across 37 plate appearances. Unfortunately, he seems likely to lose chances with Contreras taking back over at catcher after dealing with a hand injury in recent weeks.
