Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw (back) still not cleared for throwing
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (back) has not been cleared for throwing.
Kershaw is attempting to rehab a disc herniation in his lower back, but following a checkup with Dr. Robert Watkins last week, he has been advised to stay off the mound and avoid throwing. The ace southpaw remains without a timetable to return to the Dodgers' rotation, and season-ending surgery hasn't been ruled out.
Kershaw was putting together another fantastic campaign prior to injury, boasting a 2.27 SIERA with a 32.88 percent strikeout rate and impressive 2.04 percent walk rate across 121 innings of work. His career-high 0.73 WHIP is the second-best rate in the majors, while his 2.68 nERD ranks 10th.
