What It Means:

The Padres will be absorbing much of Upton's contract as part of the deal, leaving only a reported $5 million to be paid by the Blue Jays.

Upton has a 0.27 nERD on the year, good for only 159th in the majors, and he's currently slashing .256/.304/.439 with a .317 wOBA in 374 plate appearances.
