Rangers' Prince Fielder will undergo season-ending neck surgery
The Texas Rangers say they expect designated hitter Prince Fielder to undergo season-ending neck surgery later this week.
The nightmare of a season for Fielder just got worse at the same time it ends. He was shut down after experiencing symptoms that he recognized from the last time he had to have neck fusion surgery back in 2014, but the specifics of this surgery are not yet known. Fielder is still owed $96 million over the next four years.
Fielder was been having a very poor season prior to going down, posting a .212/.292/.334 slash line. He only had a .279 wOBA, to go along with eight homers and 44 RBI's across 370 plate appearances.
