Reds' Matt McLain undergoes shoulder surgery, out indefinitely

Cincinnati Reds infielder Matt McLain underwent surgery for cartilage damage and the labrum in his left shoulder.

What It Means:

The Reds are unsure when McLain will be able to return, but they expect him to play at some point this season. The 24-year-old was expected to start at second base and hit near the top of the order this season. Jonathan India will likely be an everyday infielder until McLain is available.
