Mike Napoli not in Cleveland's lineup Tuesday
Cleveland Indians first baseman Mike Napoli is not in Tuesday's lineup versus the Atlanta Braves.
Playing in Atlanta under National League rules, the designated hitter spot is unavailable. This sends Napoli to the bench and usual DH Carlos Santana to first base. Cleveland manager Terry Francona is choosing to keep Santana and his .341 wOBA in the lineup over Napoli and his .333 wOBA.
Napoli is slashing .242/.313/.468 with 16 home runs in 300 plate appearances this season, and his 34.7 strikeout percentage is the worst among qualified hitters. Our models project him to hit .230/.328/.433 with 13 home runs and a .328 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
