Marcus Semien serves up three-run laser for Athletics in victory
Oakland Athletics infielder Marcus Semien delivered a three-run homer and an RBI double against the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
This gives Semien 15 long balls and 39 RBI's on the year, pushing him towards every-day status in season-long leagues. If the Athletics are willing to bump him up in the batting order, that would enable him to provide some significant fantasy value for owners. He's been hitting closer to the top of the order against southpaws, but continues to be slotted in the bottom third versus right-handed pitchers. Tonight brings a matchup with Giants righty Albert Suarez.
Semien is hitting .248/.313/.465 in 284 plate appearances this season and our models currently project him to hold that pace with a .247/.316/.420 slash over the remainder of the season. If he can surpass our expectations and boost his average, then he should prove to be a fantasy force down the stretch.
