Boston's David Ortiz resting on Sunday
Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz is absent from Boston's lineup on Sunday.
It's a normal day of rest for Big Papi, who will sit for the third time in June. The 40 year-old is still destroying the baseball this season, and will likely be available to pinch hit on Sunday if needed. Bryce Brentz is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth on Sunday.
Ortiz is retiring after this season, but his numbers say he might need to reconsider that. He owns a .445 wOBA with 18 homers and 60 RBI's over 290 plate appearances. Our models project him to keep it up too, with a .395 wOBA, 19 home runs and 60 RBI's remaining this season.
