Blake Rutherford on Nationals bench Thursday

Washington Nationals outfielder Blake Rutherford is not in the lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against the New York Yankees due to lightheadedness.

What It Means:

Rutherford will sit after he went 0-for-3 with 2 strikeouts on Wednesday. Jake Alu will move out to left field in place of Rutherford while Ildemaro Vargas mans second base and bats sixth. Carter Kieboom will start on the hot corner and hit fifth.

numberFire’s models project Kieboom ($2,000) for 5.8 and Vargas ($2,400) for 6.8 FanDuel points on Thursday. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Nationals' implied total is 3.59, second-lowest on the board, and the game total is 8.5. Jhony Brito will serve as a bulk reliever for the Yankees behind opener Michael King in the matinee. He has a weak 17.3% strikeout rate and elevated 5.43 xERA across 64 2/3 innings this season.
