Francisco Alvarez behind plate Friday for Mets
New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez is back in the lineup versus right-hander Cal Quantrill and the Cleveland Guardians in Friday's series opener.
What It Means:
Alvarez is ready to go after taking a day to rest and recover from general aches and pains. He will catch for Carlos Carrasco and bat ninth. The Mets optioned Michael Perez to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday and added Gary Sanchez to the roster in a corresponding move.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Mets' implied total is 4.52 and the game total is 8.5. Quantrill has a 3.97 ERA this season, but that is hiding an awful 5.61 SIERA and 11.7% strikeout rate.
