CC Sabathia limits Toronto to two scores, Yankees stumble

New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia held the Toronto Blue Jays to a pair of unearned runs over seven innings in a loss Thursday.

What It Means:

Sabathia certainly pitched well enough to win -- he allowed two hits, walked one and struck out seven -- but run support was a problem today. Sabathia has allowed just one earned run over 20 innings in three starts this month. That's a whole lot better than in April, when he had a 5.06 ERA that could have been considerably worse if not for some early hooks (he pitched 21 1/3 innings in his four starts that month).

For the season, Sabathia has earned a 2.83 ERA and 20.57 strikeout percentage in 41 1/3 innings. He owns a 3-3 record in seven starts, but his 4.29 xFIP suggests Sabathia could be headed for some slight regression.
