Andrew Cashner turns in admirable performance for Padres in return

San Diego Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner performed respectably in his return from the 15-day disabled list, yielding three runs on four hits over six innings in Tuesday's loss to the San Francisco Giants.

What It Means:

Cashner, who was shelved with a right hamstring strain in early May, struck out one and walked four in his return to the mound. The Giants scored two of their three runs against the 29-year-old right-hander in the sixth inning, with Buster Posey (RBI double) and Brandon Crawford (RBI single) striking to snap a 1-1 tie. Prior to hitting the disabled list, Cashner held a 4.93 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over 34 2/3 innings. He will take to the road for a date with the Seattle Mariners next time he toes the rubber.

As of now, our models project Cashner to record a 4.31 ERA and 1.40 WHIP to go with a 17.40 strikeout percentage in 117 innings over the remainder of the year.
