Josh Tomlin goes eight strong, earns seventh win as Indians best White Sox

Cleveland Indians pitcher Josh Tomlin held the Chicago White Sox to two runs over eight innings in a 6-2 win Tuesday, earning his seventh straight victory.

What It Means:

Tomlin allowed five hits and a walk while striking out six on the evening. He's now tied for second in the American League in wins, and his 0.98 WHIP is second to only Chris Sale -- the pitcher he defeated on Tuesday -- among qualified American League pitchers.

Through eight starts, the 31-year-old is a perfect 7-0 with a 3.35 ERA. However, his 3.91 SIERA is actually his worst clip since 2013. His strikeout rate of 17.9 percent is below league average, but his 3.0 percent walk rate is outstanding. Tomlin will try to stay undefeated Monday against the Texas Rangers.
