Baltimore's Kevin Gausman fires eight scoreless innings with no walks
Baltimore Orioles pitcher Kevin Gausman scattered three hits over eight scoreless innings in a no-decision against the New York Yankees on Thursday.
Gausman and Yankees' starter Masahiro Tanaka went pitch for pitch through eight innings, with neither factoring in the decision. Gausman struck out four without walking a batter, needing just 97 pitches an the efficient effort.
It was easily the best of his three starts thus far, but Gausman has thrown well since making his debut on April 25. He is sporting a 1.42 ERA, but his SIERA is 3.73. He is benefiting from an unsustainable .176 BABIP.
