Mike Moustakas reachs two-year agreement with Royals
The Kansas City Royals and third baseman Mike Moustakas avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $14.3 million contract.
Moustakas had two years of arbitration eligibility left, but this new deal buys them out. The two sides were fairly far apart in their figures when they exchanged totals last month. Moustakas requested $7 million while the Royals offered $4.2 million. In the end, the 27-year-old received the raise he desired.
Moustakas had a career year, posting highs in wOBA (.353), Wins Above Replacement (3.8) and home runs (22) among others. His 1.50 nERD ranked 46th.
