Jordan Zimmermann impresses in Nationals win
Jordan Zimmermann pitched seven innings, only allowing three hits, one walk, and one earned run. He also struck out eight batters. The Nationals beat the Giants 3-1.
What It Means:
Zimmermann's lone earned run allowed came off a Brandon Crawford home run. Zimmermann is still lacking in the strikeout department this season with only 6.5 strikeouts per nine, which limits his fantasy upside. On the season he has a 3.04 ERA and 3.89 xFIP. He may be able to defy his xFIP and keep up with his great ERA as he has historically kept his home run to fly ball ratio below the league average.
