Ozuna has had an incredibly disappointing season in which the Marlins were expecting a lot out of him. To date, he's hit .249 with a .282 wOBA and only four homers. Ozuna, who hit 23 home runs last season, just wasn't getting the job done and the Marlins decided that at age 24 he needs some more time to develop. Valdespin is hitting .287 with a .720 OPS in the minors this season, and figures to see a good amount of playing time following Ozuna's demotion.
