MLB Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 9/24/13

Yu Darvish is a must play tonight against the Astros.

We know that people play all sorts of fantasy platforms, not just from from our friends at StarStreet but on other platforms such as FanDuel, Draft Kings, and Fantasy Feud as well. So once again, we have four optimized rosters, all for you, the numberFire reader. One is for free here; the others can be found in our Premium section.

As always, the full tables for today's action are available at our Daily Fantasy Projections page. Make sure to check it out to see where the best values are for your team.

Our baseball projections are updated throughout the day, so make sure to come back to double-check your optimized rosters for any last-minute lineup changes. Since most action happens later in the day, we will be ignoring the early games (if there are any) and focusing solely on the late contests. That way, you can use and tinker with our optimized rosters throughout the day.

The Top Three Pitchers

Yu Darvish – Yu's absurdly good 11.78 ranks best in the big leauges, almost two strikeouts better than second-ranked Max Scherzer. The Rangers ace gets the Astros tonight, who only got one hit and struck out 15 times the last time they faced Darvish. He's a must start.

Michael Wacha – The Nats are officially out after last night's loss, and now face Michael Wacha in St. Louis tonight. At home, Wacha's got an ERA almost two points lower than his road one, giving up 11 earned runs in over 37 innings of work. We like him tonight against the Nationals.

Henderson Alvarez – The young pitcher hasn't had the strongest September, but still boasts a 2-2 record in the month. Tonight he'll face the Phillies at home, who have lost five straight contests. If you need a cheap pitcher, Alvarez could be your man.

Top High-Priced Hitters

Michael Cuddyer – The 34-year-old Cuddyer is looking to finish the season strong. He has six hits in his last three games, and don't be surprised that continues tonight at Coors.

David Ortiz – Big Papi's made this list often this year, and for good reason. He now has a .307 average, and although he's slowed down over the last couple of months, Ortiz still has more doubles and runs scored in September than any other month in the year.

Cost-Effective, Mid-Range Hitter

Mike Carp – Carp is actually hitting better on the road than at home this year, and he's going to benefit from playing at Coors Field tonight. Carp has three at bats in his career against Rockies probable, Tyler Chatwood, and he's got a hit and an RBI.
