It may look like Christian Friedrich is putting together a decent season for the Padres, posting the best ERA of his career, but he has been pretty fortunate not to have a much worse ERA, as he's posting carer-worst marks with a 4.82 SIERA and 11.8 percent walk rate. He has also allowed a career .369 wOBA with a 4.52 xFIP against right-handed hitters, making this a great matchup for Brandon Phillips.

Phillips is hitting lefties very well this season, with a .318/.343/.515 slash and a .351 wOBA. He has always hit lefties well, with a career .342 wOBA and .176 isolated slugging, and with the great matchup against Friedrich, he offers big value tonight.
