Justin Smoak, 1B, Toronto Blue Jays

NFBC ADP: 240th

Positional Rank: 23

Draft Round (12-team league): 20th

The first base position in the fantasy landscape could be an interesting one this draft season -- after the elite crew of Paul Goldschmidt, Freddie Freeman, Anthony Rizzo, and Cody Bellinger, there's a precipitous drop off at the position. One strategy to consider could be waiting to nab a guy like Justin Smoak super late in drafts.

While Smoak slipped last season to only a .242 batting average, it's hard to forget his tasty .270 average and 38 home runs he delivered in 2017. Smoak also showed increased plate discipline last season, walking at a 14.0% clip while posting a healthy .216 isolated power (ISO) mark.

With back-to-back 590-plus plate appearances and a premium spot in the Jays order, check out Smoak for a cheap power option late in drafts.
