Jacob Faria has gotten his major league career off to a promising beginning, putting together a 3.28 SIERA and 27.6% strikeout rate through five starts. He's also limiting walks (3.9% rate), something that young pitchers often struggle with upon reaching the big leagues.

However, he gets a rough matchup against the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox may not slug as many bombs as last year (I'm looking at you, David Ortiz), but they're still a nuisance for opposing pitchers because they rarely strike out. Against right-handed pitching, their active roster fans just 18.1% of the time and has a 35.5% hard-hit rate.

Even if Faria pitches well, he's unlikely to have the type of ceiling game required to keep up with the likes of Chris Sale or Lance McCullers.
