Michael Wacha, SP, St. Louis Cardinals

FanDuel Price: $7,500

With higher implied team totals across the board and no clear cut ace that stands out, employing a cheaper pitcher in tournaments could work well in the event that pitching scores are down. Unfortunately, while Michael Wacha gets one of the better matchups against the Philadelphia Phillies, it's tough to get behind him, even in these circumstances.

Following a dismal 2016, Wacha sprinted out of the gate in April, reeling off four starts with a 2.55 ERA, 23.5% strikeout rate, and 6.1% walk rate. But a 3.98 SIERA implied he was pitching a bit over his head, and sure enough, as the year has gone, his numbers have slowly dwindled. The ERA now sits at 4.78, more closely aligned to a 4.43 SIERA. The strikeout rate is still an above average 22.0%, but the walk rate has crept up to 9.5%.

Worse yet, even during his promising April, he's shown little upside. He's surpassed 40 points once in 12 starts -- way back on April 8th, his season debut.

The Phillies' active roster strikes out to righties 23.3% of the time, but it's not enough to put Wacha into consideration on another hot day in Philadelphia.
