Worried about Cam sitting out - trade for Eli or pick up McCown off Waivers?
McCown is the only starter on waivers with the same/later start time as Newton. Eli starts about 15 mins prior, but I figure by 4pm we should know Cam's status. My friend has both Mannings, and is very thin at WR (Brandin Cooks is his WR3).

My WRs are DT, Crabtree, Wright, Cooper, Hartline, and James Jones. I was thinking if my friend would take Hartline for Eli straight up, I could live with that. No way I want to start McCown against one of the best defenses in the NFL. But if he wants more than Hartline, I'd bite the bullet and drop James Jones for McCown and hope for the best. I think that option is better but I think with how much the Giants will have to throw Eli might put up a bloated yardage total and maybe throw more TDs than picks, even if it's 1-0 or 2-1.

Should I stay put and wait to see if Newton starts, and pick up McCown if he doesn't, or make the trade tonight?

EDIT: Might be able to trade for Carson Palmer too, I like that a hell of a lot more.

Carson Palmer sounds a whole lot more appealing what trade are you looking to offer for him? Otherwise I'd bite the bullet and hope Tampa's coaches give McCown a blue shaded visor and convince him he's still at Chicago.

I started with Hartline but honestly I'd give up Cooper if push came to shove. Might need Palmer going forward, ya know?

I doubt you'll get him for Hartline, but I like Palmer a whole lot more than the other two guys. Might as well talk to the owner...

If he says no to Hartline I'll give him Cooper. He's got Maclin as his WR2 so maybe I can sell him on handcuffing him.

I would say look at a Derek Carr maybe or even a Ryan Tannehill if he is available. Tannehill is running that new no huddle offense like in Philly so they are going to be throwing a ton this year.

Last report I heard is Newton's ribs are sore but they are limiting him so he can play Sunday. How good he meshes in the new offense though is a bit concerning. Still a good play over Eli if he plays
