Grading my first-ever FF team - 12-team full PPR H2H league on ESPN
Hi everybody, as the subject line implies, this is my first ever Fantasy Football team and it's coming in a family league in which the other players are huge football fans and have played in this league for years. I'm a casual football fan but am really more of an NBA fantasy player, so since I really only know the bigger names I leaned heavily on data. I'd be very interested in what people see as strengths and maybe how I could improve. I'm sure I made some dumb moves during the draft.

I drafted third in a 12-team ESPN league. Full point for PPR, and it's head to head.

Q: Philip Rivers
RB1: Jamaal Charles
RB2: Le'Veon Bell
WR1: Antonio Brown
WR2: Julian Edelman
TE: Jordan Cameron
Flex (RB/WR/TE): Pierre Thomas
D/ST: Bengals
K: Adam Vinatieri

Bench: Tony Romo (QB)
Bench: Ben Roethlisberger (QB)
Bench: Doug Baldwin (WR)
Bench: Charles Clay (TE)
Bench: Mike Evans (WR)

Any hiints or tips?

Not bad at all! Look to upgrade your second WR. Maybe you can trade away Romo for a RB or WR. It's not worth having 3 of them.
Drop Clay after you use him in the bye week. I am a huge proponent of the Cinci defense this year. Nice pickup. Always have a spot or two on your bench that you are not married to. Be prepared to drop that guy to replace bye week players. Keep an eye on the future at all times and don't let someone trade rape you. Stay on top of things.

To add a bit. I never feel it is a good idea to carry more than 1 QB. You are wasting a valuable bench spot considering most backup QBs are similar in skill level to someone you can pick up on the waiver-wire, rarely are there real breakthrough QBs. Same goes with TEs, no need to keep 2 on the roster(other than during ones bye week), unless you have two not so good TEs and plan on playing matchups week to week.
You could use another running back and wide receiver, since those will be the two positions with the most potential ups and downs.
Be prepared to stream defenses(switch week to week). I like the idea of just getting the best defense available every week once waivers are over.
Last point, have fun. Every year i make it a point to draft at least one guy on my favorite team(sometimes a late bench selection). If you really dislike a team, no sense taking someone from then because you will find yourself very confused every weekend, FF is for fun.

Not bad for your first draft.

I like your players for the PPR format.

A few tips for future drafts:

    1. Don't draft more than 2 QBs - Unless you are planning on using one for trade bait, carrying 3 QBs is tough since you can only play one per week. I would look to see who has bye weeks early on (weeks 4,5,6) and try and get a RB from them. You won't get a star but you could pick up some more depth, which is what you need. Romo or Rivers should have good seasons, I'd keep one of them and trade the other. But both out there and see who nets the biggest gain.

    2. Draft more RBs and WRs - After week 4, when Cameron's bye week is outta the way, I would drop or trade Clay to a team in favor of a RB or WR. Drafting more WRs and RBs gives you more of a chance at finding that diamond in the rough or sleeper pick. Again, like QBs - You can usually only play 1 TE - Maybe 2 in a flex but unless you have 2 stud TEs you won't be using your flex play on a TE.

Other than that you look pretty good. Keep you eyes and ears tuned into the waiver wire, and injury reports. Don't fall in love with any of your players and realize that anyone can be had for the right price. If you want to make a trade, offer fair value...And if anyone offers you a trade, come to Numberfire first to get opinions. Take it from me, a true fantasy football asshole, I will take advantage of young players and others will too.

Best of luck this year and in the future.
