Keeper Question
10 team, 6pt per TD passing, Standard, snake, one keeper allowed and lose 1st round pick with either guy. Counting the keepers, my next picks are at 20, 29, 36.
Normally, I know it's a no-brainer that I keep Calvin (124.94), but based strictly on FireFactor ranks, should I go with Brees (177.48)?

I'd keep Calvin because this looks like a good class of QBs this year!

I actually see this as a toss up. Its a good debate. Because you really cant go wrong. But I would side with Calvin. Brees will be a monster, but I dont see a difference between Brees and Rodgers. And you might be able to pick up Rodgers with that #20 pick.

I'm 90% sure Rodgers will be gone. My guess is that if I keep Calvin, I'll end up with a Foles or Cutler and maybe Gio or Ellington as my first back. Keep Brees and one of the other top tier WRs should still be available, but my RB situation could take a nosedive. I do have one other option of keeping Foles and having both my #1 and #2 picks still available. Of course, Calvin will be long gone by then.

QB like Romo & Cutler will be great value picks. Foles will see some regression. But Romo and Cutler consistently battle the perception of being bad QB. Which means they will drop right into rounds 9-12. Just perfect for me.

I'm guessing that means you have first pick in the draft? You shouldn't keep anyone if that's the case - worst case, the same guy you passed on will still be available (obviously) but someone might be forced to pass on someone better (for example someone might have had jamaal Charles and Matt forte - happened in my league last year)

Basically there is no value in keeping anyone with the first overall draft pick

Although looking at the rest of your pick positions, I have no idea what your draft position is - I just read 10 team and pick 20

Sorry, I'm 7th in line. I expect the 1st 6 guys to have a 1st round pick as their keepers won't cost them their pick. The last four will likely choose a keeper that will cost them a 1st round pick. I'm in that catagory. With several of the first guys losing a second round pick, I'm counting the anticipated slots to come up with my next picks of 20, 29, ect

I hope that's not too confusing. Basically, I can keep Brees or Calvin and my 1st actual pick would be the 20th best player left.

But shouldn't you have a second round pick as well? I am so confused. Haha. But yeah I would take Calvin. The drop off from Calvin to replacement WRs is larger than Brees to replacement QBs in my opinion

Yes, I'll have a second round pick, but it happens to be the 20th best player left. I'm counting it as 10 keepers, plus 1st round (minus the 4 who won't have a pick), then the snake around to me - - This would be the 20th player overall selected.

I know that's probably more info than needed. Basically, I'm wondering whether go strictly by the FireFactor numbers or what the gut says. Using my own mock and counting projected points, I seem to always end up with a higher scoring team if I keep Brees.

I mean to say that I end up with a higher scoring team with Brees vs a lower tiered QB with Calvin...

ok. i think i've got it now - took me way too long. but yeah my gut feel would be to keep Calvin. But if your mocks and firefactor are suggesting Brees then that is probably the way to go
