Not really sure why I draft Charles Clay, but he will likely be the first drop for a waiver pickup.

Not a bad team, honestly. I wouldn't have drafted that many TEs, but like you noted, Clay will probably be your first drop. I would go ahead and do that now for another WR, honestly. When I look at your WR corps, outside of Brandon Marshall, I see a lot of inconsistent, "boom/bust" guys, which would make me personally a little uneasy. But, the potential is certainly there to play the matchups correctly, and end up with really big weeks from your WR2 position every single week. I wish you luck in that endeavor.

I would probably be starting Joique Bell week 1 over Mathews, but that's just a personal preference. Love Joique Bell this year. Also, I'm not super thrilled with Cam Newton as a QB, but that's largely due to the notion that his rushing will be diminished this season if his ankle isn't right. Just a healthy fear, more than an actual dislike of the player...because if Cam can't run, he's going to be absolutely horrid this year.

Good insight here, I do have to disagree with V-Jax being a boom or bust. To me he's been remarkably consistent in playing time and production over the last 3 years averaging a 70-1238-8 stat line while playing in 48 of 48 games. I feel Smith is a solid WR3, or plug and play flex depending on the week. I do agree that you should drop one of your late TE picks for added WR depth unless there is an irresistible RB flyer available. Overall great team.

Ultimately, the end of year stat line does not matter when the points come in bunches. Last year, VJax had 6 games of double digit points, and 10 games of single-digit points. To break it down even further, 3 of his 6 double digit games were 20+ points...but 5 of his 10 single digit point games were less than 5 points. If you look at his 2012 stats, it went much the same way...on fire one week, ice cold the next. 2012 he was particularly notorious for literally alternating weeks between great and terrible...it was miserable owning him then, because I spent like 4 weeks trying to get on the right track/pattern. Not to sound pretentious about it or anything, but that would be pretty much my exact definition of a boom/bust player...I dont really consider end of year stats, or total games played when looking at labeling someone boom/bust...I look at the week to week consistency, and I VJax unfortunately doesn't produce that way

Can't say that I disagree with any of this. I am dreading the weekly decisions that I will have to make with the WRs, as I always seem to chose incorrectly. As for Cam, he was definitely my reach at QB. Not only does he have the ankle issue that he is getting over, the WR corps that he has in very thin. I am hoping that he is a "diamond in the rough" player for me this year.

Well I mean like I said with your WR2 situation...its picking 1 guy out of 3 matchups, so hopefully each week the "best" matchup materializes pretty clearly. I don't think it will be as bad as you're predicting. Who knows, VJax might surprise us all this year with McCown and Lovie coming to town. I'm just not holding my breath, and would consider any one of the WRs you have "startable" if the match up is right. With the Cam thing...I wish I could share your optimism. I am just very seriously concerned that his ground game is either going to not be the same (if he's not healthy), or will be severely limited (to try and keep him healthy)...and I don't know if he's good for even 3000 yards and 25 TDs through the air, with that WR corps. I may be overreacting, may be swinging the hate too far...but I just am envisioning a worst-case scenario, because it's not outside the realm of possibility
