Warren Rixon
Grade my draft
So I just had my league draft (absurdly early I know), and I was just wanting a bit of opinion on how I did. 10 teams, standard scoring, 6th pick.Forte, DeMarco Murray, Gio Bernard, VJax, DJax, Sankey, Jordan Cameron, Torrey, Maclin, Kaepernick, Hopkins, Devonta Freeman, Brandin Cooks, Kelvin Benjamin, Bernard Pierce, Amendola
Haven't taken a D/ST or a kicker yet, but thought I was better grabbing skill positions first and dropping / trading later.
Additional question - which D/ST should I be looking to pick up? Seahawks, Panthers (2), 49ers, Bengals, Chiefs, Cards, Broncos, Texans, Rams, Pats, Bills (2), Ravens (2), Saints (2), Dolphins (2) and Buccs (2) got picked up - with (2) implying they are the second D/ST on an individual team so may be tradeable
Tough to answer your D/ST question. If you can't get any of the guys with 2 Defenses (never seen a league with so many backup D's drafted!) to trade, you're probably going to just be streaming week to week anyways.
What QB's are left over? If it were me, I'd be going out to pick up or trade for a 2nd...for one, SF likes to keep it on the ground, and we all kind of saw what happens if Kap isn't using his legs much last year. Secondly, it's easy to forget how vulnerable mobile QBs are...just because he hasn't had a high profile injury like Vick or RGIII doesn't mean he's not just as susceptible. Nothing worse than losing your starter, not having a backup already on your roster, and there being literally no options on the wire.
Same goes for Jordan Cameron...I would pick up a backup TE. A lot of folks surmised last year that it would be a breakout for Cameron because of one major factor: Norv Turner. Well, they were mostly right, but now Norv is no longer in Cleveland. Not to take away from Cameron's ability, but a lot of times the system really can make the man, especially for a position like TE. Maybe Dennis Pitta slipped under the radar and is available? Or you could even target Kyle Rudolph (who now has the benefit of playing for Norv Turner, and could end up being a poor man's Jordan Cameron of 2013?)
Finally, as training camps start to wind down and preseason picks up, you may want to look at dropping some of those rookie WRs for more established guys at the position that show some promise of coming in to WR2 roles. I'm not saying the guys you got are guaranteed busts, but traditionally, the production just isn't there for many 1st year wideouts...steep learning curve, most are still raw route runners, and getting used to playing at a much higher speed all contribute to most rookies struggling quite a bit.
But overall, wow...great draft man. 8/10 in my book, I'd be very happy if I were you.
Good luck!
