Where would you draft Doug Martin next year?
Clearly there's a lot of time until then, but as of today, where would you take Doug Martin in fantasy?

I am also a believer in Martin, but I haven't figured out what all of the coaching changes in Tampa mean for him. A new staff will not be as married to him as the one that drafted him. James also looked really good last year until he broke his leg, which raises two questions: 1) How much of Martin's rookie success was a product of the system? 2) Will a new coaching staff implement a committee if they feel that they have 2 talented backs?

Martin has a lot of upside, but he has a lot of question marks too. Due to his high cost and potentially high reward, he is a guy that could make or break your playoff chances right out of the gates. I think that I would take him with my second round pick (anywhere in the round) and I would make Mike James a high priority mid round acquisition. I am wary though, and I won't be investing in him in every draft. Most likely, I will end up taking Martin if he makes it back to me in the second and I was able to secure a relatively "safe" RB with my first round pick.

I would go after him in a 12 team league at pick 13-16.

In the 6th, with the rest of the injury hobbled RBs who were outperformed by multiple backups last year (read whoever the colts end up starting).

The majority of his points came from 2 or 3 games in 2012. If you take away those games he was average at best. I wouldnt reach for the guy. He has a decent floor with a high ceiling. If they get the passing game more consistant i could see him in the top 5 again, but i expect him to be a Solid rb2 in 2014

I'm going to avoid drafting him, but if I find myself in a situation where I need a RB in the 3rd round then maybe.

Steve brought up some valid points as to the question marks surrounding him. I believe that he is going to be in a time share. Even if he's the main guy in that time share he still won't come close to his rookie numbers. Plus since he only has one full healthy season in the NFL that is still a question mark. Like Steve said, he is high risk high reward. But I don't want a high risk RB in the 2nd round, even if the potential payoff is there (Though I don't believe he will be putting up 1st round numbers in a timeshare).

To me you should still "know what you are getting" with your second round pick. If it comes down to it in the 2nd round I'd rather go with a top end WR and take my chances in the 3rd round at RB than grab Martin. I would put Martin's risk/reward somewhere around the same area as Spiller, Matthews, or Rice (if he isn't suspended any games). And I think these are guys you can get in the 3rd round

I think you'll have to watch a preseason game or 2 first. I think bringing mccown in will make teams respect the pass some. This is an AMAZING WR class coming out too, so if the put someone opposite VJacks, he'd move up on my charts. Someone like mike Evans...but I expect them to trade down to acquire more picks and maybe pick up a kelvin Benjamin or marquise lee. More importantly, they need to improve that o-line. Maybe grab a tackle in the second. I guess what I'm trying to say is its a little early to tell right now. Need to see what pieces they put around Martin and mccown. I would love to have Martin has a high end rb2 this season, bc he won me a championship off the wire two seasons back....and absolutely screwed me last year...but he was facing a stacked box EVERY down. This was most def a lengthy response. But I love (real) nfl draft time...hate they pushed it back...means it's getting closer to our drafts!!! If you read this whole response, hope it helped. Summary: Look at the additions bucs make, watch offensive schemes in preseason...then,,pick him with your very first pick! Haha. Good luck to everyone this season.
