New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold "has a very fair shot" to be the Week 1 starter, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.
What It Means:
Josh McCown is currently listed as the unofficial starter, and Teddy Bridgewater could potentially earn the job with a strong showing between now and the opener, but Darnold is considered the future of the franchise and will likely be given the starting nod if his preseason play is at least comparable to the other two.
