Cardinals, Carson Palmer could ramp up passing game in Week 2

The Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Carson Palmer could be asked to ramp up the team's passing game in the absence of running back David Johnson (wrist).

What It Means:

Palmer got out to an abysmal start this season as he completed just 27-of-48 passes while throwing three picks in the Cardinals' 35-23 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 1. To make matters worse, the Cardinals' superstar back suffered a dislocation of his wrist, which required surgery. Now Johnson will be out roughly two-to-three months and the team will be forced to use a running back by committee. However, AZCardinals.com says that we could see the Cardinals push the passing game to set up the run in future weeks.

This week will be a good way to get back on track for the Cardinals. Facing an Indianapolis Colts that ranks 30th against the pass through a week of play, our models project Palmer to tally 264.6 pass yards, 1.62 touchdowns and 16.4 FanDuel points. At $7,500, his projected output ranks 16th among all quarterbacks this week.
