Giants' Evan Engram to share tight end snaps with Rhett Ellison
New York Giants tight end Evan Engram is expected to split snaps with fellow tight end Rhett Ellison to open the season against the Dallas Cowboys.
When he was selected 23rd overall by the Giants, Engram was expected to get heavy run right away in the New York passing offense. While it's unlikely that he does so on an every-down basis, Engram could see a 60-40 advantage in snaps. It's clear that he'll be asked to both block and run routes while appearing in the slot or in two tight end sets with Ellison.
Given this news and Engram's inexperience, our models are tempering expectations for Week 1. At $4,900, we're projecting the 23-year-old for 3.6 targets, 2.3 catches and 24.0 yards in his NFL debut. His final projection of 4.4 FanDuel points is outside the top-20 tight ends.
