Jadeveon Clowney fully on track for Texans' regular season opener
Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Friday that linebacker Jadeveon Clowney is fully on track to play in the team's regular season opener.
O'Brien would not say, however, whether or not Clowney would be on a snap count when the Texans face the Kansas City Chiefs. Clowney was held out of practice until August 20th because of a knee injury. Injuries limited Clowney to only four games in his rookie campaign.
The Texans' defensive front could be frightening if Clowney is, indeed, a full go. They led the league in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play and were seventh in adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. Our projections see Clowney notching 80 tackles this year if he can stay on the field.
